Lot Essay

Includes a trimmed piece from another mount, credited, titled "Earthmen/Photograph by Henneman" and signed by Robert Murray in the same manner as the "Aztecs" photograph. Although lacking the actual print, this annotated mount fragment further confirms that Henneman photographed all three groups -- the Zulus, the Aztecs and the Earthmen -- that were exhibited together in London during the summer of 1853.
