Lot Essay

'In 1938, Harold Edgerton photographed Bobby Jones's golf swing as a way to illustrate the revolutionary action-stopping capability of his newly invented stroboscopic lights. This image went on to become one of Edgerton's most iconic photographs. According to Gus Kayafas, Editor of the Edgerton estate and author of "Stopping Time", this print is the only known vintage print of the image made on double weight gelatin silver paper.' - J.D.
