拍品专文

The blue-enamelled hallmark, Cai Xiu Tang, is a dedication to the Hall of Colourful and Beautiful, dated to the Qianlong period.

No other example of this millefleurs vase appears to be recorded. The closest comparison is an equally fine cup of very similar pattern, bearing the same hallmark, from the Robert Chang Collection, sold in these Rooms, 31 October 2000, lot 811 (fig. 1).

Compare also with a dish of this pattern, but bearing a Yanghe Tang mark, 'Hall for Cultivating Harmony' in the Shanghai Museum, illustrated in Chugoku Toji zenshu, vol. 12, Kyoto, 1981, pl. 119; and to a pair of dishes with the same, Yanghe Tang, hallmark sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 25 Apri 2004, lot 232.
