Wanquan Chuang, 'A Myriad of Springs Retreat', is the name of a specific location northwest of Beijing where Emperor Qianlong would have passed on his many journeys en route to Bishushanchuang, the Summer Resort in Chengde situated eighteen miles north of Beijing. As indicated by the name Wanquan, meaning 'a myriad of springs', it was place where a temple dedicated to the Water Spirit was situated. It was recorded that this location was a stopover for the Emperor when he made his visits to Chengde from Beijing.
