A RARE JADE-INSET GILT-BRONZE BOX AND COVER
DAOGUANG CAST FOUR-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
Of oval cross-section, the upper surface of the cover embellished with a Yuan period white jade plaque, carved in openwork to depict a goose in flight entwined with long flowering lotus stems, inset into the gilt-bronze cover, cast with lotus blooms growing curly leaves to the sides, the box decorated with four geese swimming and in flight amidst lotus and flowers, each framed within a stylised c-scroll cartouche, raised on four tab feet, the underside base cast with the reign mark within an indented square, the interiors re-lined with yellow silk
