A RARE CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER STAND
MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
The rectangular top carved with a scholar with young attendants travelling on a river bank, making their way towards a second scholar seated in a thatched pagoda, looking out at the mountains and trees, surrounded by further attendants, supported on two slightly splayed legs, each pierced with a persimmon-shaped panel, and carved over all in low relief with a formal diaper ground (minor repair to corners)
