The panel depicts Shoulou accompanied by the Eight Daoist Immortals, all variously standing on a terrace garden landscape looking up in anticipation at the arrival of Xi Wang Mu sitting on a phoenix in flight emerging from ruyi-clouds, above turbulent waves breaking against jagged rocks, the details picked out in shaded pigments against an orange-red ground, minor wear
