A WHITE JADE GU-SHAPED VASE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
Of rectangular section, the mid-section carved in low relief with a taotie mask on each facet, all between lappets with archaistic scrolls spreading outward on the trumpet neck and splayed foot, the corners and vertical middle sections of each facet with ridged flanges, the mouth and foot rims with key-fret, the foot inscribed Da Qing Qianlong Fanggu, the mark possibly later added, the semi-translucent stone with a slight celadon tinge and a few areas of opaque inclusions (extremity chip)
