A JADEITE TRIPOD CENSER AND COVER
QING DYNASTY, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY
The compressed body finely carved in shallow relief with a lotus scroll, the blossoms depicted in various positions, the pair of handles carved in reticulation with a flower-head raised on curling leaves and stems, all raised on three low feet emerging from animal-masks, the domed cover with a similar motif of scrolling lotus around the sides and surmounted by a circular finial carved as a dragon coiled around a 'flaming pearl', the opaque stone of mottled apple-green and russet tones (extremity nicks)
