A RARE MING-STYLE BLUE AND WHITE 'THREE ABUNDANCES' BOWL
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)

The flared side painted to the exterior in brilliant cobalt tones with leafy branches of peach, persimmon and pomegranate below a classic-scroll at the rim, and above a band of lotus panels enclosing a five-pointed pendant motif, the centre of the interior with three peaches alternating with radiating leaves within double blue lines and a classic-scroll border (tiny biscuit flaw to the rim foot infilled)
4 3/4 in. (12 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

Bowls of this pattern with Yongzheng reign marks are rare, however, there are several examples which have been published. Cf. one from the McElney collection included in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria Exhibition of Porcelain of High Qing, 1983, Catalogue, no. 19; another included in the Hong Kong O.C.S., Exhibition of Chinese Blue and White Porcelain, 1975, Catalogue, no. 107.
