The rectangular moulded Portor marble top above two frieze drawers centred by a flowered medallion, above a pair of panelled doors centred by a mask of Bacchus, enclosing a shelf, above a waved apron, on paw feet

Lot Essay

The distinctive ormolu bearded mask angle-mounts and paw feet are inspired by 18th Century prototypes particulary associated with the work of the 'Pagoda Master', recently identified as Noel Gérard (see A. Pradère, French Furniture Makers, London, 1989, p.126).
