He had spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley before joining Manchester United in 1907. His debut came at Newcastle United on 12th October 1907, in a game Manchester United won 6-1. It was the first time Newcastle had conceded so many goals at home and at the same time it recorded Manchester United's first win at St. James' Park. At the end of the 1907-08 season Stacey collected his first of two Championship-winning medals, with his second coming in season 1910-11 (see lot 3). In season 1908-09 Stacey collected a F.A.Cup Winners medal (see lot 1) when Manchester United won, for the very first time, the F.A.Cup by defeating Bristol City 1-0. He made a total of 267 appearances for Manchester United and scored 9 goals. THE FOLLOWING EIGHT LOTS (1-8) RELATE TO THE CAREER OF GEORGE STACEY
