Lot Essay

Red Bay Castle is located on the main Coast Road between Waterfoot and Cushendall. John and Walter Bisset, banished from Scotland for the murder of their Uncle, purchased the Glens of Antrim and are said to have built a castle on the site in 14th century. The existing castle is believed to have been built by Sir James McDonnell around 1561.
