As a young manufacture of watches working with the most traditional know-how inherited from the Swiss watch-making art, our models are created exclusively for men and women, who most of the time are watch collectors, or, thanks to our avant-garde image, fashion leaders and trend setters. Nevertheless, within this so particular and exclusive world, remains a very singular line, which was never dismissed: the Fantasy.
Since the beginning, Gerald Genta worked with Disney characters, blowing a new breath and vivid young spirit into the traditional watch-making world, by animating Mickey, Minnie, Donald and many other of their pairs on the brand's unique combination of small complications: a jumping hour coupled with a retrograde minute.
The watch presented at auction today belongs to this line and matches perfectly our purpose to participate in The Theodora Foundation's action. Every minute that Minnie's arm is pointing at, reminds us of the attachment that each of us has with childhood, as a time of innocence and eyes wide opened to the world.
Every minute that a smile lasts on a child's face is a treasure. Every second that a smile lasts on the face of a child who is suffering is worth more than a treasure!
By its action, the Theodora Foundation reminds us - "the reasonable adults" - that even when life leads us to the unacceptable, such as the suffering of a child, we can't get away with smiles, joy and hope and have to try hard to restore life and sparkles in his eyes. The "clown doctors", by their action show us that it is possible.
