A SEVRES (HARD PASTE) APRICOT-GROUND SWAN-HANDLED SUGAR-BOWL AND COVER
1814-1824, blue printed interlaced l's enclosing a fleur-de-lys and sevres, incised tt
The oviform bowl with everted rim and spreading foot, the matte-gilt handles as swans with outspread wings, their heads resting on their breasts to form a loop, finely painted in colors with a bouquet of roses, tulips, daffodils and other flowers beneath a band of gilt tassels, the interior of the mouth gilt with lozenges between gilt bands, the exterior in brown enriched in gilt on the apricot ground with a foliate rinceau, the lower body simiularly decorated with alternating palmettes and lotus beneath a band of gilt scallops, the slightly domed cover with gilt lotus finial centering a rosette of radiating flowers and leaves
