Lot Essay

The mark on the present vases is for Guèrhard et Dihl while the firm was operating on the rue de Bondi under the protection of the duc d'Angoulême. Cf. Compare also the ground color and gilding on these vases against that on the set of eight plates by the competing firm of Darte Frères offered as lot 98.
