This magnificent mirror forms part of a group of blue and clear glass examples made in Venice in the early 18th century. An example today in the collection of Meli Lupi di Soragna was originally invoiced by Vincenzo della Vedra in 1701 (C. Santini, Mille Mobili Veneti, Modena, 2002, pp. 248 - 250, figs. 430 - 432), and, although engraved and less geometric, is clearly related to the offered lot. Further mirrors with similar borders and crestings are in the Museo Vetrario, Venice (G. Mariacher, Specchiere Italiane, Milan, 1963, plates 29 - 31).
