Oswald Haerdtl (1899-1959)

The Austrian architect and designer Oswald Haerdtl studied with Koloman Moser, Oskar Strnad and Josef Frank at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna where he graduated in 1922. He became an assistant of Josef Hoffmann at the same school and was professor in the field of architecture and design until he deceased in 1959. He also worked as an office manager in Hoffmann's studio during the 1920's and 30's. This explains how the present candelabra relates to designs by Josef Hoffmann.
