This rope of natural pearls was owned by Princess Helene of Thurn und Taxis (1834-1890) the eldest daughter of Duke Maximilian in Bavaria and sister of Elizabeth (Sissi), wife of Emperor Franz Josef of Austria. She married Erbprinz Maximilian Anton von Thurn und Taxis in 1858.
