Fisherman was one of the most prolific winners of all time. He was a bay or brown, bred by Mr W. Halford and foaled in 1853. Sold to the trainer Tom Parr (who owned most of his horses himself), Fisherman raced from 1855-59. Despite his considerable success, Parr was usually broke and in the end he had to part with Fisherman. In all the horse won no less than sixty-nine races in his five seasons including the Ascot Gold Cups of 1858 and 1859. By the latter year, he had been sold to Mr Higgins and later went to Australia, where he was an outstanding stallion. No other genuinely top class horse has ever won so many races in Britain. He is shown in Parr's colours.
