Lot Essay

The paper labels in respect of the Insurance members of the Alliance Insurance Company applied to the reverse of the pictures, note that they were stated to have been found hanging with other similar portraits on the walls of the 'Old European Tavern', which stood at one time on the site of the Union Bank of London, opposite the Mansion House.
