A Sèvres gilt-metal mounted oval box and hinged cover
the slightly domed cover printed and painted to the centre with a scroll inscribed ILIADE ENEIDE on classical devices within an oval gilt panel issuing scrolls, the border reserved with two similar panels and two diamond-shaped panels on a band with animals among scrolling foliage, the base gilt with stylised foliage on a square-pattern band, with tooled gilt metal rims and footrim, printed marks -- 6in. (15.2cm.) wide, 19th century (some wear, the mounts probably restuck)
