A Victorian brass striking York Minster skeleton clock
Attributed to Evans of Handsworth, retailed by Sexty Brothers, Grantham. Circa 1870
On ebonised plinth and under brass-framed rectangular glass cover, the front applied with a belt and buckle retail plaque inscribed SEXTY BRO GRANTHAM, the silvered chapter ring with engraved numerals, the eight day twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, hour strike and trip repeat on gong and passing half hour strike on bell, wheels with six crossings; ebonised wood rod pendulum with polished pewter cylindrical bob, winding key
22½ in. (57 cm.) high, 24¼ in. (61 cm.) high over dome
