With highly decorative engraved lever movement, inner blued steel dial with individual cut rings representing the positions of Mars, Venus, Mercury, Saturnus and Jupiter, fixed ring showing the position of the Earth with the moon rotating around it, outer pink gilt ring indicating the signs of the Zodiac, circular case with engraved Roman numerals to the bezel, crystal with web-like design indicating the positions of the planets in relation to the Earth, hooded lugs, sapphire crystal display back, case, dial and movement signed, with an 18K gold Ulysse Nardin buckle

Lot Essay

Ulysse Nardin introduced the "Planetarium Copernicus" in 1988. This unusual wristwatch allows for the reading of the position of the planets in relation to both the Sun and the Earth, combining the theories of both Ptolemy and Copernicus.
