Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the date of manufacture as 1982 and its subsequent sale on August 27th, 1983.

Patek Philippe produced the extremely popular reference 2499 from 1950 to 1985. Throughout this reference's history the features of the dial and case underwent four transformations. The first series featured a tachometer dial with square buttons whereas the second series also featured a tachometer scale but possessed round buttons. The third series maintained the round buttons but had a much simpler dial. The fourth and final manifestation, as with the present lot, was nearly identical to the third series solely with the addition of a sapphire crystal. Patek Philippe commenced production of the fourth series in 1978.
