2 volumes, 4° (268 x 208mm). 61 hand-coloured engraved botanical plates by F. Sansom after Sydenham Edwards [including 19*], 13 uncoloured architectural plates by C. Blunt, Mutlow, and J. Barlow after C. Blunt and J. Farey jr, extra-illustrated with a duplicate of plate number 28. (Imprint of uncoloured plate I/F shaved, some variable light spotting, browning and offsetting.) Contemporary red straight-grained morocco gilt, covers with decorative borders of fillets and flower, fruit-swag, and urn tools, gilt turn-ins, spines lettered and with repeat decoration in gilt and blind with small tools and pointillé work, gilt edges (some minor rubbing and scuffing). Provenance: William Alfred Westropp Foyle, Beeleigh Abbey (1885-1963, bookplates; sale, Christie's London, 11-13 July 2000, lot 794).

Dickson's famous general horticultural dictionary was subsequently re-issued as The New Botanic Garden (London: 1812) and The New Flora Britannica (London: 1812).
