Further details
The windows of the Oscar Steffens house have been compared stylistically to those of Wright's contemporaneous Robie House (1908-1910), the last of his great Prairie houses and one which contains some of his best known windows. The Steffens house windows were based on the chevron and in some cases, such as this one, each window was a complete symmetrical composition unto itself. Others were asymmetrical, based on a half chevron and the full design was created only when windows were paired around the casement.
