Lot Essay

The Hampshire Hunt, known by its initials, H.H., dates from about 1745. Since 1795, the area covered centred around Winchester, and extended seventeen miles north to south, and twenty-five miles east to west. In 1795 the Prince of Wales authorised the Hunt members to wear the insignia of his feathers on their buttons.
