Autograph letter signed to Mr Lucas, [n.p.], 18 December 1834, an instruction relating to his painting, 'the large Salisbury' (Salisbury from the Meadows), one page, 8vo, with traces of sealing wax, tipped in on p.260 of C.R. LESLIE, Memoirs of the Life of John Constable, Esq. R.A., London: Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans, 1845, 4to, 2nd edition, original dark green cloth with paper lettering piece (some wear to extremities). Provenance: George Field (armorial bookplate inside upper cover) -- PRESENTATION COPY from the author, August 5th 1845 (inscribed on front free endpaper).
