I want to enlist you in our cause'; a plea for women to fill senior nursing posts, regardless of class; lamenting the deaths of overworked nurses, Nightingale writes to Campbell, the daughter of Sir George Campbell, lieutenant-governor of Bengal, of the problems of filling nursing positions in hospitals in India, provincial England and the Liverpool Workhouse Infirmaries.
