Seres], 1551. 8°, title within woodcut historiated border, with the final blank (small wormhole as far as H6 with very slight damage to text, ownership inscription excised from upper margin of title, occasional unimportant discolouration). Contemporary English calf, compartments of spine and sides ruled in blind, at centre of sides 2 roll-borders of stylised decoration (somewhat worn, much of spine missing, upper cover nearly detached, lacks ties). Provenance: Thomas Wood (contemporary signature at end), Thomas Edward Watson (bookplate; by descent to the present owners). A rare abridgement of the Statutes with interesting chapters on, inter alia, archery (and the proscription of other games), crows, rape, guns, hats and caps, buggery and silk. With, at the beginning and end, binders' waste of a strip of a 14th-century manuscript on vellum and fragments of a legal incunable. STC 9525 (locating only 4 copies, the BL copy lacking the title).
