Original blue decorated cloth gilt, gilt edges, in blue cloth chemises and both contained in a dark blue quarter morocco slipcase (head and foot of spines very lightly marked). Provenance: George Mason Lamonte (book-lable in vol. I). FIRST EDITIONS. Loosely inserted is Kipling's carte de visite with, on one side, a drawing of a branch and a quatrain beginning 'To the land of little children, where the babies rule the day', signed and dated by Kipling, 'Rudyard Kipling On the way to Japan.
