Birmingham: Swinney for Cadell and Elmsley, 1776. 2 volumes in 4, 8°, half title, folding frontispiece plate, preliminaries of Part I and glossary from end of Part II bound in one volume, one folding plate in vol I ('Index and Glossary' on spine lettering piece), 10 plates, blank leaves bound in at beginning and end, vols I-III with blank leaves bound in after each page of text (?lacking title page to vol. II, hinges split at i2 vol I, a little light marginal dampstaining). Contemporary polished calf, red and black leather lettering labels on spine (worn at extremities). Provenance: W. Burgh (owner's inscription vol. II) -- W. D. Foster (booklabel). FIRST EDITION. An unusual copy of this work with blank leaves bound in after each text leaf, to allow the owner to provide his own illustrations.
