Grange Hermitage--Vintage 1966
South Australia. Penfolds
Signs of seepage. Bin-soiled and damaged label. Level just below mid-shoulder
A drought year. Including Cabernet Sauvignon 12 Most recently fragrant, showing well. M.B.
Generally considered a great Grange, often compared with the 1962. Won 4 gold medals at Australian shows between 1969 and 1980.
Tasting note: brick red. Opulent coffee/nutmeg/old, dusty cedar aromas. The palate is more structured with coffee/nutmeg flavours, chewy, grainy tannins and lovely length. Plenty of fruit sweetness and concentration. A.C.
Sweet and rich palate .... chewy tannins and excellent length. R.O.P.
