The Silver Shadow, introduced in 1965, was the reaction of Rolls-Royce to the market for which it was building its product shifting from chauffeur to owner driven cars. It also marked a dramatic change in how the cars were built, the company finally abandoning the traditional chassis in favour of the of unitary construction, as had been pioneered on their S2 Continental a few years earlier. Mechanically, maintaining the refinement associated with the marque, the engine and automatic transmission were continued from its predecessor. Powered by a 6.2 litre light alloy engine while other features such as hydraulic disc brakes and an improved power-assisted steering system ensured that the new model was mechanically up-to-date. Although the car did not have any sporting pretensions it was still swift and, as always, accommodated four passengers in great style and comfort. Latterly for the introduction of the Shadow II in 1977, Rolls-Royce increased the engine size to 6,750cc by lengthening the stroke.

Today the Silver Shadow with Chassis No SRX 37704 is presented in good condition with a mileage of approximately 69,400 kms. The car was built in 1979 but not registered before the 14th October 1983 by HRH Princess Firyal of Jordan in the UK who is still stated as the single owner in the log book.
