With a later marble top, the fluted frieze with a shaped cartouche centre issuing foliate fronds extending to cabriole legs headed with downswept acanthus scrolls and hung with bellflowers terminating in scroll and block feet, restorations and re-gilding

Lot Essay

The tables voluted and truss-scrolled legs, like the cartouche of its antique-fluted frieze, are wreathed in Roman acanthus and festooned with Apollo's poetic laurels in the Grecian or gout grec fashion popularised by Jean-Charles Delafosse's Receil de Meubles, 1768.
