A VERY RARE ANTIQUE IVORY AND GEM-SET BANK NOTE HOLDER, BY BOUCHERON
The rectangular ivory box with panels of carved cherubs and floral motifs within gem-set and polychrome enamel foliate borders, opening to reveal three graduated compartments with openwork floral detail, push-piece and one corner detail deficient, 1893, 26.1 x 15.8 x 5.5 cm.

Lot Essay

Made by Georges le Saché (b. 1849), who worked for Boucheron as a jeweller between 1887 and 1920, creating objects such as inkstands, bottles, watches and boxes, such as the one illustrated above. His name was one of a select group of principal Boucheron jewellers chosen by Frédéric Boucheron to be featured at the 'Exposition Universelle de Paris' in 1900.
