Lot Essay

The shape of this vase is derivated from early bronze vases from the Zhou and Han dynasties while the glaze is an imitation of the Southern Song geyao glaze. Compare the present vase with a similar one illustrated in Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing from the Kwan Collection, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, ill.79
