Lot Essay

Faivre was a student of Boulanger and Gérome at the Beaux-Arts, explaining his predeliction for Heroic, anectodatal and patriotic subjects. He showed at the Salon from 1877, and the Musée d'Orsay conserves "Les Deux Mères" (1888), an example that conveys his sensibilities for the dramatic very well.
