Lot Essay

He made his apprenticeship with Bossuet in Brussels and then Bonnat in Paris. He spent time in Normandy before visiting Spain, Italy, Egypt and Syria. Many of his works detail the old parts of Brussels which now sadly have disappeared, and the forests of the Ardennes. He helped to paint the Palais Royal staircase and the Hotel de ville in Brussels. His works have been conserved in Amiens and Brussels museums.
