The clipped signature, on blue paper, is mounted to another sheet that bears this vivid note written in what appears to be a 19th century hand: "This miserable wretch Assassinated President Lincoln April 14, 1865, he was hunted by the Police, like a wild beast for 12 days, and then shot like a dog."
