Lot Essay

Michael Goldschmit is recorded in Koszeghy (no. 187) as working in Krondstadt, Siebenürgen, from 1610 until 1659. His maker's mark is as yet unrecorded. Kronstadt marks often follow the form of the maker's initials with a crown above. It has been suggested that this is his hitherto unrecorded maker's mark

We are grateful to Professor Dr. Ernst-Ludwig Richter for suggesting this attribution.
