A Continental silver-gilt tankard
Hugarian or German, with unidentified mark Efz and maker's mark KG conjoined, in shield shaped cartouche, dated 1602
Tapering cylindrical and on rim foot, with beaded scroll handle, mermaid thumbpiece and hinged domed cover with finial formed as a rampant lion holding a shield engraved with the initials 'G*I B*V' and the date '1602', the body chased with three oval carotuches with scenes of stag hunting and with snails, flowers and strapwork on a matted ground between, the cover chased with a band of winged cherubim with fruit and flowers bewteen, the interior of the cover engraved with two coats-of-arms, marked on base
