A Victorian silver-gilt tea-caddy and silver caddy-spoon
London, 1860, the tea-caddy, mark of Joseph Angell, the caddy-spoon, mark of George Unite
The tea-caddy, shaped oblong, on four pierced scroll bracket feet with cast knight terminals, and with pierced scroll apron with grotesque masks, the sides engraved with foliage and strapwork and applied with silver cartouches depicting mythological scenes, the hinged cover similarly decorated, and with pineapple finial, the cover engraved with crest and inscription 'DUNOON, 10th July 1861', marked on base and cover, the caddy-spoon of shell shape and with grapevine-wrapped ring handle, marked on shell
