The oval stand on four part-wood bun feet, with two hinged reeded part-wood handles with paterae ends, with reeded borders, the stand fitted with two larger and two smaller detachable oval dishes and covers, each with reeded foliate handles and partly fluted handle, and with central smaller oval dish and cover with divider liner with ring handle, the central support pierced with fleurs-de-lys, the stand engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked on stand, dishes, covers and liner
The stand, 31¼in. (79.4cm.) long
gross 438oz. (13,637gr.)
The arms are those of Rothschild impaling Cohen, for Nathan Mayer Rothschild (1777-1836) and his wife Hannah (1793-1850), daughter of Levi Barent Cohen, whom he married in 1806.
