A George III silver teapot and stand
Mark of Hester Bateman, London, the teapot, 1789, the stand, 1790
The teapot, lozenge-shaped with curved sides and straight spout, with part-wood scroll handle, the hinged slightly domed cover with detachable carved green stained ivory pineapple finial, the body and and cover bright-cut engraved with bands of flowers and foliage, the sides with ribbon-tied floral garlands, and with two vacant cartouches, marked on base and cover, the stand, of conforming shape and on four reeded feet, with reeded borders, similarly decorated with bright-cut engraving, marked on reverse
