Square and with incurved angles and moulded rim, on four scroll bracket feet, the border engraved with masks and foliage, the centre later engraved with a band of shells and rosettes on a brickwork ground and a coat-of-arms in rococo cartouche, marked on reverse

The arms are those of Pennyman of Ormesby Hall, Yorkshire quartering Warton for a descendant of the marriage of Sir James Pennyman, 3rd Bt. (d.1745), and Mary, daughter of Michael Warton of Beverley and sister and heir of Sir Michael Warton, possibly for their younger son Sir Warton Pennyman who succeeded as 5th Bt. in 1768 on the death of his elder brother Sir William Pennyman, 4th Bt.
