A Queen Anne silver punch-bowl
Mark of Gabriel Sleath, London, 1713
Partly fluted circular and on gadrooned spreading circular foot, the sides applied with two ring handles with cast grotesque mask terminals on a partly textured ground, the sides with foliate motifs above the flutes and chased with two scroll cartouches engraved with a coat-of-arms and a crest within fishscale, foliage and strapwork mantling, the base engraved with initials 'O W M', marked on base, also engraved with scratchweight '34=5'

The arms are those of Wentworth for Thomas Wentworth (1672-1739), created Earl of Strafford 29 June 1711, who had a distinguished career as general and ambassador.
