Shaped oblong, chased with foliate scrolls, flowers and strapwork on a textured ground, the hinged cover set with a portrait miniature of Alexander Alexandrovich, later Alexander III, circa 1870, surrounded by paste stones, with foliate thumbpiece, marked in base
