The artist's studio has kindly confirmed that there was a small number of pre-steelfacing impressions, probably not more than two or three, printed at the Royal College of Art in 1963. Due to a chemical reaction with the metal, the red ink printed much darker from the bare zink plate than from the steelfaced plate, hence the difference in colour.
